-i practically drag large garbage bags that look like they might house a body out to the trash located at the curb in wonky-ass rainboots in a robe wen there are inches of snow on the ground. -you might witness jeanine and i using chrome tape to decorate a car. - likewise, you might witness me…
WE COULD MAKE THIS LIST ONE HUNDRED LONG! the last one’s SO FUNNY because the neighbors though it was my bedroom with the pbr case over the window. LIKE I JUST PREFER PBR TO SUNLIGHT.
If you’re not aware, Glenn Beck’s show airs in the United Kingdom. Accordingly, we have been targeting his sponsors in the United States as well as in the U.K. (with the assistance from the StopBeck – UK Effort).
During the last week and a half, Glenn Beck lost his 100th, 101st and 102nd sponsors. A full list of all 102 sponsors that dropped Mr. Beck (or Fox News as a whole) can be found here. Please note that this total includes sponsors that have dropped him both United States and/or in the United Kingdom.
Glenn Beck’s show in the United Kingdom has not run any commercials during the past three days (Tues-Thurs). Glenn Beck’s show in the UK used to run commercials. The shows that come on before and after Glenn Beck still run commercials. But, for the past three days, Mr. Beck hasn’t had any sponsors in the U.K. During the commercial break, instead of running ads, they cut away to Sky News updates or the weather. Perhaps they’re having trouble finding sponsors willing to subsidize Glenn Beck’s misinformation, vitriol, sexism and race-baiting?
“We stand on the cusp of one of the bleakest periods in human history when the bright lights of a civilization blink out and we will descend for decades, if not centuries, into barbarity. The elites have successfully convinced us that we no longer have the capacity to understand the revealed truths presented before us or to fight back against the chaos caused by economic and environmental catastrophe. As long as the mass of bewildered and frightened people, fed images that permit them to perpetually hallucinate, exist in this state of barbarism, they may periodically strike out with a blind fury against increased state repression, widespread poverty and food shortages. But they will lack the ability and self-confidence to challenge in big and small ways the structures of control. The fantasy of widespread popular revolts and mass movements breaking the hegemony of the corporate state is just that – a fantasy. ”—
this is why sarah palin makes me so nervous and upset. it’s just because she makes us all think we need to be stupid and base to make sense of the world. like there are easy answers, and it won’t take a fight. that’s what i hate. instead of popular revolts and mass movements, we are going to trade freedoms for security.
“A week after Lady Gaga set a milestone mark on Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart, Ke$ha rewrites the record. Last week, Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” made chart history for logging the most weekly plays in the 17-year archives of the tally, as the cut registered 10,859 plays in the tracking week of Jan. 11-17, according to Nielsen BDS. This week, Ke$ha’s debut RCA Music Group smash “TiK ToK” claims both the summit from “Bad Romance” - the tracks swap places at Nos. 1 and 2 - and establishes a new weekly plays highpoint, totaling 11,224 detections in the tracking week of Jan. 18-24.”—
“What do you mean “failure”? Your perspective is from the bottom looking up. But the financial model has been a great success from the vantage point of the top of the economic pyramid looking down? The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10 percent now own 85 percent of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90 percent been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy. From their point of view, their power has exceeded that of any time in which economic statistics have been kept. You have to realize that what they’re trying to do is to roll back the Enlightenment, roll back the moral philosophy and social values of classical political economy and its culmination in Progressive Era legislation, as well as the New Deal institutions. They’re not trying to make the economy more equal, and they’re not trying to share power. Their greed is (as Aristotle noted) infinite. So what you find to be a violation of traditional values is a re-assertion of pre-industrial, feudal values. The economy is being set back on the road to debt peonage. The Road to Serfdom is not government sponsorship of economic progress and rising living standards, it’s the dismantling of government, the dissolution of regulatory agencies, to create a new feudal-type elite. The former Soviet Union provides a model of what the neoliberals would like to create. Not only in Russia but also in the Baltic States and other former Soviet republics, they created local kleptocracies, Pinochet-style. In Russia, the kleptocrats founded an explicitly Pinochetista party, the Party of Right Forces (“Right” as in right wing). In order for the American people or any other people to assert greater control over monetary policy, they need to have a doctrine of just what a good monetary policy would be. Early in the 19th century, the followers of St. Simon in France began to develop such a policy. By the end of that century, Central Europe implemented this policy, mobilizing the banking and financial system to promote industrialization, in consultation with the government (and catalyzed by military and naval spending, to be sure). But all this has disappeared from the history of economic thought, which no longer is even taught to economics students. The Chicago Boys have succeeded in censoring any alternative to their free-market rationalization of asset stripping and economic polarization.”—
generic birth control is making me feel like a god-forsaken werewolf. in the right conditions, right time, wrong light, wrong person around, i am some kind of enraged, bitter animal who can not control herself. and then i come out of it and just feel tired and upset that i was mean.
and, i guess, i’m a suddenly acne-prone, bloated, back-hurty werewolf at that.
fuck you, hormones and my decidedly fucking with them.
i am not a lady who balances well. if i am into being a good student, and reading all my books cover-to-cover with detailed notes and super polished papers, then i am sitting in my basement room for hours, answering the door for no one except maybe existential despair. i emerge, shaking off pounds of new ideas and world-horrors and joys that weigh me down in the day-to-day.
and then, when something like spring happens, or ohidon’tknow, kesha’s playing, i am getting full-shoulder tattoos of sprawling flowers, buying the brightest pink headphones, playing the loudest music, not touching a book or pen to paper for weeks.
i really love both of these things about myself. they both play to me being both happy and intelligent. but it would be neat to make them mesh a little better. to have a simultaneously brilliant and fun day.
this came up because i was both bored by learning about poor laws in england during the 1830’s and thinking dickens is really a hilarious dude.
